Brentwood Academy Seeks Part-Time Choral Instructor
Brentwood Academy is searching for a skilled, energetic, and dedicated educator to direct the middle school and upper school choral music programs. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in music with experience working with middle school/upper school choirs. Piano skills and musical theatre experience would be a plus, and the ability to effectively manage large numbers of students in a choral setting is a critical factor in selecting the right person for the position. Salary is commensurate with experience and education.

• is a skilled pianist/accompanist
• has a Music Education degree
• has experience in choral conducting
• has strong classroom management skills
• has proven success working with middle school and upper school students
• has successfully produced music programs/concerts/events

• has the ability to inspire students to excel
• has the ability to daily engage students for an entire class period
• has knowledge of a wide variety of musical styles including traditional and contemporary repertoire
• considers proper vocal technique and the incorporation of sight-reading, music theory and ear-training to be essential components of a good choral music program.
• has excellent verbal and written communication skills
• is organized and shows great attention to detail
• demonstrates proficiency with computer software/apps
• is eager to incorporate innovative technology into daily work flow
• has the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team
• has strong mentoring skills
• has a strong work ethic and demonstrates initiative
• is wlling to take on a variety of responsibilities to aid in the flourishing of the fine arts department
Responsibilities Include:
Middle School Chorus (Grades 6 and 7)
Middle School Chorus (Grade 8)
Upper School Chorus (Grades 9-12)
Possible Auditioned Middle School Ensemble (extra-curricular)
Possible Assistance with the Upper School Musical and/or Middle School Play (extracurricular)
